Happy Again in 2017
As good as my word in last years post, we returned to Southern Palms on the 5th November, which is a little later in the year for us. The overall experience was up to the same high standards of service and friendly staff. Room 117 (our first experience of a Garden Room) was good, location is on the ground floor adjacent to the pool areas, so I had no complaints with that. Daily room cleaning was all I expected. Some of the bathroom fittings are a bit dated and in need of an upgrade to stay modern. Checkout was a bit dull, with very little engaging conversation about how we had enjoyed our stay. But I won't let that detract from another great week in Barbados. There has been talk of returning in 2018.More

We travelled to Southern Palms as a family of 4 (2 children aged 4 & 7) from 16th - 30th October. When we arrived we received a friendly greeting by Edric who showed us to our room and was pleased to find that our ocean view room was as promised, we had a full view of Dover beach and also one of the pools at the hotel. The room was traditional Bajan with 2 large beds, a bathroom including bath, a fridge, plenty of storage space and very cool air conditioning. The first day we spent at the pool I felt a little worried as my children were the only ones there however I was wrong to be worried. Everyone was great with them, both guests and staff. In particular Richard (front of house) let the kids feed the terrapins and fish every day and generally made a fuss of the children. Alison on reception was also amazing. My daughter celebrated her 7th birthday whilst we were there and the hotel provided a birthday cake personalised for her which was great to share with other guests and was served by Coreen who was also a great member of the team. The only negative I would give is that all the restaurant staff aren’t as friendly and sometimes made us feel like an inconvenience rather than a paying guest. The food in the hotel is of good quality and reasonably priced. Food is as expensive as you make it whilst there. There is a selection of restaurants available nearby where you can choose fine dining or shacks. We had some great meals in the shacks. We hired a car and spent 2 days travelling the island. So many great places to visit and see. We also went on the Tiami catamaran trip with Virgin, this was an amazing day out and totally worth every penny. Whilst staying in the hotel we saw baby turtles hatch on the beach and also be released back into the sea. Standing on the shore you can see the turtles swimming in the sea which is amazing. An amazing hotel in a great resort where we will definitely visit again :) More
Beautiful hotel in the best location
I've just got back from a week-long trip in Barbados staying at Southern Palms Beach Hotel, and I really can't fault a single thing about the hotel. The striking pink exterior looks so fun against the beautiful blue skies and sea, and the location really couldn't be better - it's literally a 5-second walk to the beach from the pool, and the hotel is surrounded by bars, restaurants and cafés, making it really convenient to get out and about and try some traditional Bajan fare. The hotel itself is immaculately clean (there were cleaners around all day every day) and there are lots of gorgeous tropical flowers for decoration. We especially enjoyed meeting the cats and cockerels wandering around, and the ponds with turtles and fish! Every single member of staff was brilliantly helpful, and we spent lots of afternoons cooling down in the pool. I highly, highly recommend this hotel!More

My partner and i stayed here for a week in February 2017 after a one week cruise. We had booked a sea view room but on our arrival we were upgraded to a sea view suite. It was excellent ! It had a livingroom with balcony and a full kitchen on the ground level and the bedroom with picture window looking onto the beach, bathroom and dressing room on the upstairs with access to our own private roof terrace. We were half board at the hotel ! The breakfasts and the a la carte evening meals were great but we thought that the buffet meals could have been a bit better. Sometimes the food was a bit cold ! I don't eat meat and the staff were helpful about pointing out options for me. The setting is heavenly ! We thought that the setting was fab with only a short walk to reach the night life of the gap ! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend ! More
The best on Dover beach.
We have just returned from a fantastic 8 days in barbados. Luckily for us, due to some maintenance work being carried out at our original chosen hotel, we were re-booked into the Southern Palms. Firstly, having read other reviews, and I understand that reviews are subjective and based on personal experience. It is true to say that the hotel may lack the total finesse that you would find in a 5* hotel for example. And that is the point. It isn’t a 5* hotel, so should only be judged on that basis. What you will get with the Southern Palms is a beautiful hotel set on an amazing beach, staffed by friendly, helpful and professional staff. Our stay at the hotel was faultless. Check in was smooth and quick, (approximately 5 minutes). With all the relevant information being passed to us. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. With a beautiful sea view, a bonus for us as we had been booked into a garden/pool room. We had breakfast included in our package, and what a breakfast it was. An amazing choice to suit all tastes. The hotel has two pools, which are spotlessly clean. There is a games/activity area with mini golf, an outside gym and table tennis amongst other things. Also available are various items for water sports activities. All of which is provided free of charge. There is also an indoor gym. All of this on what is considered to be one of the finest beaches on the Island. And it’s understandable to see why. Our stay at Southern Palms was idyllic. Made all the more special by the staff, who were unparalleled in there desire to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We certainly will be returning to Southern Palms and encouraging others to do so.More
