Hotel Lohmann

Great hotel and with refurbished rooms since our last visit the hotel has got even better. The staff are very polite and friendly and always there to help and the food quality and variety is excellent. There is always plenty of choice from the buffet style evening meal service and the restaurant never seems busy despite the anytime sitting times. When we visited all drinks were included with the evening meals (in the restaurant) which is a nice little boost to holiday budgeting. There is also free hot drinks and cake at 16.00 each afternoon. Breakfast offers a great selection with lovely fresh bread and was perfect for our needs. Hotel is an excellent location and about 50m from the slopes and quiet as well so no late night noise.

We had a wonderful week’s skiing in Obergurgl and very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lohmann. The staff were wonderfully warm, friendly, welcoming and professional, and couldn’t have been more helpful and kind towards our 1 year old son. The food is simply superb and the variety and quality was everything anyone could ask for on a ski trip when good and nourishing food is very important. It is wonderful that they put on a free lunch for children so that it was very easy for the nanny to look after him before we returned from the slopes in the early afternoon. There aren’t many restaurants/cafes in Obergurgl which aren’t attached to hotels so that is a really nice thought. We must mention that the restaurant wait staff and chefs are so friendly, dedicated and professional - it really renews your faith in the art of hospitality and how important it is when you come across staff such as this. We thought the room (though dated - we understand the hotel is undergoing a refurb so we look forward to staying in one of those rooms next time!) was practical and large with plenty of useful storage when you have ski gear and a toddler. A bigger bathroom with a bath would have been nice but we will look out for that when we next book. The kitchen sink was useful to wash up baby cups etc and great to have a good sized fridge to store baby milk, but since the hotel is all inclusive they probably don’t need to keep the stove and oven on the refurb! Rooms and clean and cleaning staff very friendly and nice. We also thought the ski shop which is part of the hotel was fantastic, also with great, qualified, helpful and attentive staff, and high quality equipment for rent. We bought some great things from the shop. Ski room to store boots etc was practical. There is a sauna etc which my husband tried once. Finally you can walk to both main lifts easily, and there is also a hotel shuttle.

We love the Lohmann, so much so that it keeps bringing us back to Obergurgl when we really should be exploring more of Austria! This time we felt that we had our best overall visit we have had. The main selling point for us of this hotel is it’s relaxed, informal atmosphere. This has been perfected and for this visit we found the food to be fantastic quality throughout the week, and the helpful friendly service in all departments contributed, along with the weather and skiing, to a fantastic weeks holiday. We will, of course, return! Thank you to everyone at the Lohmann.
