    Right on the beach and surrounded by rainforest, Khao Lak Merlin Beach Resort is an All Inclusive tropical retreat.

    Set in 16 acres of tropical gardens, this place is a luxurious hideaway. Here, you have the best of both worlds – there’s a white-sand beach on your doorstep, but Khao Lak town centre is just a few minutes’ drive away.

    Scattered throughout the lush gardens, you’ll find four pools to dip into. There’s also a seafront restaurant, a buffet place and a handful of bars tucked away in the trees. Meanwhile, secluded bedrooms are decorated in typical Thai style.

    We visited 4 hotels in our 2 weeks because I like to look around and get bored easily. This one was the worst by far. Although the pools were nice and there was plenty of room the hotel is tired and dated. It needs some money spent to bring it up to date. It is very much a typical Brit’s abroad type place which wasn’t what I was looking for. The beach is nice but very off putting with the bottle of vinegar near the beach for jellyfish stings. We hired a scooter to get out for the days. The staff in comparison to other places are rude including reception and restaurant staff. Not a good welcome. We would not stay here again.

    We visited the Merlin resort for on holiday in May. Such a beautiful location . The grounds are so well kept. Pools r well maintained every day. Rooms r spacious with comfortable beds. A number of pools at rhis hotel each one different. The gardens r so beautiful facing the beach & tranquil to relax on the plentiful sun beds. Restaurants have a lovely menu with delicious food. We went bed & breakfast but upgraded to all inclusive. Staff are all very pleasant & happy to help. Main pool has a swim up bar. Beach bar & coffee shop also in this hotel. We will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future. Thailand is such a beautiful place to visit & would definitely recommend here

    A little out of season was perfect for us, very quiet Attentive staff really helpful and friendly couldn’t do enough for the few guests in the hotel. Standard room is very nice and a good size. Pools and grounds were great, interesting wildlife

    Just got back after 2 weeks here a lovely clean hotel. The staff can not do enough for you. We used the hotel taxi a couple of times our driver phuwadulol powbiboon was a great safe driver and took us to some amazing places like the big budda and lovely temples and tiger kingdom also central phuket shopping mall. He always had a cold drink waiting for us when we got back to the car would highley recommend him to all your guests. Food in hotel was always good quality. We would return to this hotel we had the best time.
    What a Bargain

    After doing a lot of research we spent 5 nights here and then another 4 nights at the Haven Khao Lak. I rate both 5 stars but for very different reasons - if I had to choose between the two i would probably rate this higher. Merlin is a more traditional Thai hotel. whilst the Haven is a larger more modern hotel with massive pools surrounding the complex. The Merlin does show its age in places however our bedroom (Deluxe) has been very tastefully refurbished with amazing bathroom and comfortable beds. Only ate breakfast here (apart from afternoon tea) as there are a number of good (and not so good) restaurants within a short walk. Breakfast was good but not great with reasonable selection. A juicer/smoothie station would be a welcome addition. I think I would be bored with the food after a week. Bread and pastries could be better. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The grounds and pools are pleasant. But The Haven beats Merlin hands down in terms of swimming pool and gym facilities. The gym at the Merlin is very basic and needs updating. Although I wouldn't wish to spend 14 nights here I would certainly go back for a shorter stay as I really enjoyed it. .It is in a quiet area but not isolated like the Haven. I think for the price I paid it was one of the best hotel bargains I have ever had.
