Holidays to Port El Kantaoui take you to a stylish resort built round a luxury marina and a world-class golf course – with a coastline of soft sand on the side.
Built to impress
Port El Kantaoui is a custom-built resort with traditional-style white buildings and narrow cobbled streets. Chic cafés and restaurants line a fountain-filled square and the smart marina. There’s also a PGA-standard golf course and a long, sandy beach.
Golf by the sea
Golfers here have a pair of 18-hole, par-72 courses that – conveniently – share the same, 250-acre site. The panorama course has elevated tees and fairways running between olive plantations and large lakes. And then there’s the sea course, which hugs the beach. The duo are good enough to have hosted the senior European tour on several occasions.
Daytrips to El Jem
About an hour’s drive gets you to El Jem. What you’ve got here is an incredibly well-preserved Roman theatre – one of the largest ever built. Scale-wise, it’s not far short of Rome’s Colosseum – in fact, it used to hold around 35,000 spectators. It’s one of UNESCO’s now, though Hollywood borrowed it to make the movie Gladiator.
