Why Order Travel Money With TUI?
How to make the most of your South Korean won on holiday
If you’re heading off on a South Korea holiday, you’ll want to make sure you have some South Korean won before you go. The won is made up of 100 jeon. However, jeon isn’t actually used any more, so you’ll find most prices are rounded to a whole won.
In 2018, you could get an average of 1467 South Korean won, or KRW, to the pound, although exchange rates do vary.
Where to get the South Korean won
South Korean won isn’t available everywhere, although your nearest TUI Store will be able to supply what you need for your holiday. You’ll find that credit cards aren’t always accepted in South Korea, especially in smaller towns. Most restaurants and hotels in major cities will accept them.
A guide to using the South Korean won abroad
A budget of around 80-100,000 South Korean won per day is about standard for a holiday in the country. If you do need to access more cash, look for ATMs with the ‘Global’ sign. These won’t charge you extra for using a non-Korean card.
There’s a strong ‘no tipping’ culture in South Korea, as there is in many parts of Asia, and attempts to reward waiters and room attendants for good service are likely to be politely refused.
