How to make more of your Jordanian money on holiday

If you’re planning a getaway to Jordan, it’s time to think about your holiday money. The currency of Jordan is the Jordanian dinar. In 2018, the average exchange rate was around JD 1.05 to the pound.

Where to get Jordanian dinar

One of the easiest ways to get hold of Jordanian dinar is to make an online order from TUI, and have your currency delivered to your home address. As an alternative you can pop into your nearest TUI Store.

It’s a wise move to get your currency sorted at least a week before you leave – if you try to buy currency right before you go, or once you’re in Jordan, you may end up paying more.

A guide to using Jordanian dinar

You can enjoy a comfortable holiday to Jordan with spending money of around £50 – JD 55 – per day. For a more luxurious experience, budget at least £100 for activities and dining. You can use the TUI budget calculator to work out how much money you’ll need.

While bargaining is a social norm in Jordan, you might not find that you save a lot of money. A better way to make the most of your dinar is to visit the duty free shops in Amman. Many shops also offer tax rebates – just make sure you keep your receipts.

Tipping isn’t always mandatory, but as a rough guide, aim for 10% in restaurants, taxis, and for travel guides.
