Why Order Travel Money With TUI?
How to make more of your Icelandic krona on holiday
Got an Icelandic odyssey in the works? Then now’s the time to start sorting your foreign currency. Iceland uses its own unique currency, the Icelandic krona, which isn’t used in any other countries, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead to get the right amount.
The exchange rate varies of course, but in 2018 the average rate was Kr 144 to the pound.
Where to get the Icelandic krona
The krona is readily available from TUI, either in-store or online – to find your nearest TUI Store click here. In addition to taking some cash, it’s also a good idea to take a credit or debit card to use in Iceland, just in case you run out. Cards are widely accepted in Iceland.
A guide to using the Icelandic krona
Before you head off for your Icelandic adventure, it’s worth using the TUI budget calculator to work out how much money you’ll need for food, travel, and activities.
A popular way to see the country is by car or bus, driving along the famous Ring Road, so it’s worth looking into your options for a driving tour. Tipping isn’t expected in Iceland, but if you’ve enjoyed your meal or drinks it’s polite to round up – a 500kr or 1000kr note, around £3-£6, will do nicely.
