Why Order Travel Money With TUI?
Get the most out of your Hungarian forint on holiday
Off to Hungary soon? You’ll want to stock up on the right currency before you go. The main currency in Hungary is the forint, and euros are also accepted in certain locations.
The exchange rate between sterling and the forint goes up and down, as with most currencies, but as a rough guide, the average was around Ft 366 to the pound in 2018.
Where to get forints
You can pick up your travel money from TUI at your nearest TUI Store, or buy it from us online if you prefer. It’s easy to withdraw extra money if you need it from cashpoints in all major Hungarian locations.
A guide to using forints in Hungary
As a guide, you can budget on about Ft 30000 per day for your trip to Hungary, depending on your planned activities of course. The average meal will cost you about Ft 5000 and public transport is relatively affordable. Try our handy budget calculator here for a more detailed breakdown.
You’ll find traditional Hungarian goulash all over the country and it’s highly recommended, though there are plenty of vegetarian options available too. A 10% tip’s perfectly acceptable in Hungary, but 15% for exceptional service doesn’t hurt.
