About Majorca
If there was only one thing Majorca did right, it would be variety. A mention of the biggest Balearic Island conjures images of deck chair-peppered beaches, thumping nightclubs, and the turreted silhouette of Palma Cathedral – and this is just the start. The Serra de Tramuntana mountain range has been given the nod by UNESCO, there’s a jazz scene that’s firmly alive and kicking, and it’s home to a host of water and theme parks. All in all, a trip to Majorca’s a great option for a mix of sun, sand, and adventure – catch a flight here, and you’re all set up for the quintessential summer holiday in Spain. Families should make a beeline for Sa Coma, a pretty east coast town that offers up a Blue Flag beach, a café-lined seafront, and a mini-train to whisk you along if you don’t feel like walking. Couples, opt for the capital, Palma. This cosmopolitan city’s packed with landmarks to explore, and romantic restaurants to sip wine in. And, night owls will have plenty of choice – from Palma Nova to Magaluf and back again, there’s no end of neon-lit dancefloors to hit. If you fancy getting out and about, hire a car and take a trip along the coast – you can travel around the entire island in about five hours. The best bit? We fly to Palma de Mallorca from every one of our UK airports, and it’ll only set you back around two and a half hours direct, whether you depart from London, or from a northern spot like Manchester or Newcastle.
