Mahe Island holidays
Mahe Island holidays put you at the heart of the Seychelles. Here, moon-white beaches, salad-green jungles and colourful townships decorate a mountainous landscape.
Insta-island
Mahe is the largest of the 115 Seychelles islands. Floating off the eastern coast of Africa, these tropical islands are best known for their sugar-white beaches and jungle-carpeted interiors. Holidays here are all about chilling out by the sea, picking up hand-crafted souvenirs from local markets and hiking through dense forests in national parks.
Pretty beaches and rainforest hikes
The biggest draws of Mahe are its beaches and natural landscapes. The most famous beach is Beau Vallon on the north-east coast. It’s exactly the sort of beach that you’d expect to see on the cover of a holiday brochure, thanks to kitten-soft sand and window-clear waters. If hiking’s more your bag, follow one of the many walking trails into the cloud forest at the island’s mountainous centre.
Small towns, big personality
There are lots of townships and villages dotted across Mahe. And it’s easy to monkey-bar your way from place to place, thanks to a spider web of good roads and a reliable public transport service. Lively Victoria, in the north, is one of the world’s smallest capital cities. And in the south, you’re more likely to find tucked-away villages where the streets are strung with colourful Creole shops.
