Of historical interest

Slightly inland from Gardaland, Castelnuovo is a small resort set back from Lake Garda. Sandwiched between the larger towns of Peschiera and Lazise, Castelnuovo has a rich history which is easy to explore as you wander around the area. The local church, Madonna degli Angeli, is well worth a visit, as are the war memorial and Torre Viscontea, the medieval tower.

After an adrenaline rush? Spend your days at Gardaland - one of Italy's most famous amusement parks. It's home to themed hotels so it's great for the whole family to enjoy the magic of the theme park after it closes. From shows that'll have you laughing out loud and rides that thrill, to the marine wonders of the Sea Life Aquarium – Gardaland has something for everyone. And as if that weren’t enough, just a few kilometres away you'll also find Canevaworld Resort – a huge waterpark – and Movieland, a theme park featuring rides based on your favourite films.

Small town to big cities

Close to Verona, Venice and Milan, if you’re after a break from the rides, and looking to explore beyond Lake Garda, you can catch a train to one of the nearby Italian cities. You’ll pass olive groves and rolling vineyards on your way, and within an hour or 2 you’ll be wandering through the city’s streets.

Lido di Campanello

Walk from Castelnuovo towards Peschiera and you'll come to the quiet and scenic spot known as Lido di Campanello. There's a pebble beach and a small play area for children.

On foot

If you fancy a stroll, there are some quiet roads that take you to Castelnuovo centre. The church of the Madonna degli Angeli is a peaceful place to visit.
