Where we sail in Guadeloupe
Cruises to Guadeloupe drop anchor in Point-A-Pitre – a city sandwiched between the country’s two main islands. It’s a case of Europe meets the Caribbean, thanks to the Colonial architecture and French street signs. Outside the city, the landscape’s a mix of emerald-coloured hills and waterfall-filled national parks. Weather-wise, you can expect balmy climes all year round. The average temperature rarely drops below 25°C, with highs in the low 30s. We sail here between November and February.
Surfing and shopping
There’s plenty to fill your days with in Point-A-Pitre. The St Peter and Paul Cathedral’s one of the most impressive buildings in the city, with a picturesque square at its toes. The Place de la Victoire’s one of the best photo spots in town, and has a bunch of lively shopping streets around it. Further afield, there’s everything from clothes to crafts on sale at the Sainte-Anne Market, a half-an-hour drive away. And on the north-east coast, in Moule, you’ll find the country’s best surfing territory.

Facts about Guadeloupe
Port of call in Guadeloupe
Pointe-A-Pitre
Flick through your French dictionary while sipping a Caribbean rum punch – Guadeloupe is where French and African influences fuse. This gorgeous spot is actually a bouquet of islands. There’s a scattering of little ones but the two main players are Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. Together, they’re shaped like a butterfly resting quietly on the sun-blushed Caribbean.
