What's great about Veere river cruises?
The city of Veere sits next to a lagoon on Walcheren Island in the Netherlands. It’s popular for its beaches, marinas and watersports, and has a colossal storm surge barrier called the ‘oosterscheldekering’. This barrier was designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea, and is the most popular tourist attraction in the area. Also popular with visitors is ‘Oma’s Snoepwinkel’, which translates to ‘Grandma’s Candy Shop’. It’s got a fuchsia-pink façade, and inside you can choose from more than 100 kinds of old Dutch candy, such as the sugary sweet ‘ulevellen’ and traditional ‘duimdrop’ liquorice. The Grote Kerk Veere church is also worth visiting – it dates back to 1521.
