TUI launches virtual work experience programme for students

  • TUI has launched a virtual work experience programme in collaboration with Springpod – a careers platform where employers and educators engage with young people as they plan their futures.

Aiming to provide students with valuable insights into the travel and tourism industry, the new programme offers them a chance to learn from professionals at TUI and gain practical experience, all from the comfort of their own homes. With the rise of hybrid and flexible working, the virtual programme intends to provide more accessibility and equal opportunity across the board.

The course is made up of six modules* and includes interactive activities, webinars, and projects designed to help participants understand various aspects of the travel industry, from customer service to marketing and operations.

Open to those aged 14+, the course contains over six hours of content and once all the modules are finalised, participants will receive a certificate of completion

Julie Tindale, TUI’s Northern Region HR director commented, “We’re excited to launch our TUI Work Experience with Springpod as it’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in travel and tourism to get a head start. The online modules provide flexibility for students to learn in their own time and pace, and hopefully inspire them to pursue a career with TUI or the wider industry. We want to encourage emerging talent and highlight that the travel and tourism industry is an exciting one to be a part of, and there’s so many different types of career opportunities available.”

In addition to this programme, TUI offers a range of apprenticeships, spanning finance, digital, management, travel and engineering to working in the company’s high street shops or call centres. They range from Level 3 intermediate apprenticeships, equivalent to A levels and used for those wishing to work as a travel agent in the company’s shops, to degree (Level 6) and master’s degree (Level 7).
