Holidays to Iceland

What are the Northern Lights, and how often can I see them?

The Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights, is a natural phenomenon occurring when solar particles collide with the Earth's magnetic field. The winter months are the best time to see the Northern Lights in Iceland due to the longer hours of darkness. Although, as a natural event, they are unpredictable and we cannot guarantee you'll see them during your stay. The length of a display can be anything from a couple of minutes to a few hours. They appear in many different colours, but green is usually the most common shade.
