Portugal’s big-name cities
We sail to the colourful coastal cities of Lisbon and Porto, where Medieval monasteries and castles mingle with modern museums and street art. Lisbon’s must-dos include riding on the iconic yellow tram and visiting Belem Tower. Meanwhile, in Porto, it’d be rude not to sample the local food and drink – francesinha sandwiches and of course, Port wine, are the ones not to miss. Weather-wise, it’s sunny year-round, with comfortable sightseeing temperatures even in winter.
Sights and the sea
If you can’t resist squeezing some beach time into your city visit, you’ll be pleased to hear that Porto’s home to a couple of sweeps of sand, and they’re both easy to reach from the centre. Over in Lisbon, it’s more about waterfront walks than sandy strolls. The city’s coast is dotted with historic sites and is home to a lively marina.

Facts about Portugal
Port of call in Portugal
Leixoes (for Porto)
The port in Leixoes is one of the biggest in Portugal, and is the closest neighbouring dock to the city of Porto. There are two beaches either side of the port – the closest is Praia de Leca da Palmeira, which is a five-minute taxi ride away. This long stretch of sand is known for its big waves, making it ideal for surfing, bodyboarding and kitesurfing.
