What's great about Leixoes (for Porto) cruises?

The port in Leixoes is one of the biggest in Portugal, and is the closest neighbouring dock to the city of Porto. There are two beaches either side of the port – the closest is Praia de Leca da Palmeira, which is a five-minute taxi ride away. This long stretch of sand is known for its big waves, making it ideal for surfing, bodyboarding and kitesurfing. There’s also a tidal saltwater pool here if the waves get a little too intense. If you cross the bridge, and get a 10-minute taxi, you’ll reach Praia de Matosinhos – it’s a sandy belt where Porto’s locals flock in the summer for some sand and sea. It’s backed by a promenade with bars and cafés and has a surf school to make the most of the offshore swells. There’s also a marina, right by the port, where you can spot fancy yachts and shop for holiday souvenirs.
