Fairy tale lakes and Medieval towns are Slovenia’s bread and butter.
Where we sail in Slovenia
Our Slovenia cruises dock in Koper, close to the Italian border. The port’s right beside the old town, so it’s a great pick for explorers. Five minutes’ walk gets you to a terracotta-topped cluster of cafés and restaurants, plus an impressive list of historic sites. There’s the 15th-century Praetorian Palace, the Cathedral of the Assumption and the long-standing Muda Gate. For the warmest weather, come to Koper between June and August, when the mercury can hit heights of 29°C. Things are a little milder in May, September and October, but it’s usually fair and dry.
Daytripping territory
Thanks to its handy location, it’s easy to pop across to a couple of different countries from Koper. To the south, you can reach the Croatian coastal town of Umag in 35 minutes’ drive. In the other direction, the Italian port town of Trieste is even closer – a 25-minute drive gets you there. Slovenia’s got plenty to offer, too – the charming fishing town of Izola’s close by. And the countryside further inland’s sprinkled with nature parks and walking routes.
