St Lucia cruises

St Lucia’s a mix of top-class beachfronts and UNESCO-dubbed mountains.

Where we sail in St Lucia

Our cruises to St Lucia dock in Castries, the capital city, on the island’s northwest coast. Unsurprisingly, for a Caribbean island, its collection of Instagram-worthy beaches is its main calling card. But you can break up stints on the pillow-soft sand with a look around the city’s duty-free shops. They offer everything from diamond-encrusted jewellery to top-name-branded perfume. We sail here between October and April, when the temperature hovers around the low 30s. Our cruises to St Lucia visit other Caribbean islands, as well, like Barbados and Antigua.

Adventure awaits

Outside of Castries’ markets and public parks, you’ll find a lot of the island’s most popular sights along the southwest coast. The headliners are the Piton Mountains, a pair of UNESCO-protected, 2,500-foot-tall mountains. You can hike along the nature trails that weave up their slopes, or give tree-top zip lining a go in the nearby rainforests. The fishing village of Soufriere’s a 15-minute-drive away from the peaks, too. It’s waterfront restaurants are the ideal place to sample some of St Lucia’s signature seafood, like grilled lobster and cod fritters.

St Lucia’s skyline is high rise. But it’s not the hotels that make this island look serrated against the sky, it’s the mountains. The Pitons are 2 of the biggest. Both their summits tower at least 2,000 feet above sea level and their slopes are coiffured with a mane of dense green rainforest. At their feet, meanwhile, banana plantations give way to syrup-coloured beaches and some of the best coral reefs in the Caribbean.
