Cruises to St Kitts and Nevis take you to two of the sleepiest places in the Caribbean.
Where we sail in St Kitts and Nevis
The pea-green islands of St Kitts and Nevis form the smallest country in the Western hemisphere. The bigger of the two, St Kitts, lines up flour-white sandy beaches and rolling green plantations. It’s perfectly suited to those who want to totally switch off. Life on its smaller sister island, Nevis, is even more laidback. Here, former plantation houses have been transformed into private guesthouses. Its capital, Charlestown, is full of colonial-style houses. Both islands offer up an authentic Caribbean holiday experience – neither have been overrun with tourists yet.
Crayon-coloured architecture
Away from its blonde beaches, St Kitts has got a heap of history to unravel. Basseterre, the island’s capital, has the colourful looks that are a trademark of Caribbean cities. Houses are painted in butter-yellows and duck-egg blues. And the architecture shows off French and British colonial styles. Don’t miss the Treasury Building, created during British rule, and the Circus area, which was built with London’s Piccadilly as its muse. You can explore or sunbathe at any time of year. The ‘coldest’ month is February, when temperatures stay toasty at around 24°C.

Port of call in St Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre
One of the British Leeward Islands, St Kitts is one of the Caribbean’s pearls. Once an illustrious sugar colony, it now focuses its efforts on being a tropical paradise. And it excels in every sense, with its seductive blend of blonde sands and duck-egg blue seas. Away from the shores though, you’ll find plenty of historic sights to tick off your checklist.
