In Barbados, pillow-soft sands, rum tours and snorkelling trips set the tone.
Where we sail in Barbados
Bridgetown’s the main event on our cruises to Barbados. The island’s capital, on the west coast, is one of our home ports, so it’s common to see ships bobbing in the harbour. The city itself is a unique mix of Caribbean and British styles. Sights include the old British army barracks at the Garrison Consortium, and live calypso bands performing on the streets. Or, you can tour a rum distillery, before watching a cricket match on the green. And with average temperatures in the mid 20s from January to December, it’s always shorts weather.
Sugary sands
Beaches are Barbados’ forte. Because it’s an island formed mostly by coral, all 92 kilometres of its shores are iced with sugary-white sand. In the north-west, the sand’s so fine that it’s nicknamed the ‘Platinum Coast’. Underneath the sparkly emerald waters, you’ve got reefs filled with kaleidoscopic fish, rays and turtles, making it a snorkeller’s paradise. You’ve also got the beachfront resorts of Maxwell, Hastings and Rockley, which are all about lazy days on the sand while still being within easy reach of the capital.

Facts about Barbados
Port of call in Barbados
Bridgetown
A hypnotic calypso isle, Barbados is the ultimate Caribbean dream. And at just 21 miles by 14 miles, the island really is your oyster. Of course, it’s most famous for its palm-fringed beaches, but there’s more than talcum powder sands here. We’re talking a duty-free shopping scene and sights that are second to none.
