Holidays to Loggos take you to a quiet Greek village which manages to fit in some lovely tavernas, cafés and shops. Plus there are boats leaving the harbour for the white sands of Antipaxos island.
A picturesque Greek village
The fishing village of Loggos sits on the east coast of Paxos. The tiny Greek island is pretty quiet all over, but Loggos is its most peaceful spot. A colourful harbour is at the centre, with a pastel-coloured village spread across lush greenery. Quaint waterside cottages are home to the authentic tavernas, while nightlife is a laidback affair – which suits the 200 residents down to the ground. As for beaches, there are scalloped coves all along this coastline.
Beaches nearby
A handful of secluded shingle coves are within walking distance of Loggos. There’s the quiet spot next to Loggos harbour, while a short stroll away is Levrekio, one of the only beaches on the island with a taverna. A little further on is the tiny Marmari bay, backed by tree-clad hills. Locals like to grab their snorkelling gear and go hopping between the coves. But thrill seekers usually head to the watersports centre at Harami Beach, 5 minutes’ drive away.
Daytrips to Gaios and Ozias
The island’s capital Gaios is 10 minutes’ drive away. Down by its harbour there’s the pretty pink façade of the Church of the Assumption. For a glimpse of old Paxos, the nearby folk museum houses ancient pottery found on the island. About a 5-minute drive out of Gaios is the hamlet of Ozias, a settlement that dates back to 600 BC. There are the ruins of 2 Venetian churches there, both set among beautiful olive groves.
