You can hop on to one of our direct flights to Hurghada Airport from either London Gatwick or Manchester. After nearly six hours airtime, you’ll land in Egypt’s second-largest city. Hurghada Airport’s five kilometres outside of the city of Hurghada, on the glamorous Red Sea Riviera. After Cairo, Hurghada’s airport is the busiest in the country, with two terminals, 72 check-in counters and 20 departure gates. This area of Egypt deals in flawless coral reefs, toast-coloured beaches and upmarket hotels, with world-class watersports thrown in for good measure. If you’re looking to learn the scuba diving ropes, you won’t find many spots better than this. Think clear water, calm seas, and an underwater scene that’s teeming with sea life – including pods of dolphins. Plus, there’s a grade-A dining culture – particularly around the stylish marina area. Whether you’re looking to sample typically Egyptian eats, or you’ve got a taste for Thai, Italian, Indian or European fare, you’ll find a kitchen to suit your appetite. Shopping’s high up on the luxe list, too. The Senzo Mall covers 170,000 square metres – roughly the same size as New York’s Grand Central Terminal, and lines up big-name brands like Mango, Adidas and Levi’s. Location-wise, Hurghada stands by itself – you’ll find little more than a row of five-star resorts peppering the coastline in both directions.
