If you’re a real foodie, you won’t want to miss these Orlando restaurants…
Florida might be known for its theme parks, beaches and sunshine, but it’s also a pretty strong contender for some of the best food around. And no, we’re not just talking about their famous key lime pies or fresh orange juice. We mean locally-sourced ingredients served up in quirky American eateries. To prove it, we sent vlogger Becky Sheeran, from, TalkBeckyTalk to show you some of the top places to eat in Orlando.
Celebration Town was created as the perfect American town by Walt Disney himself. It looks like it’s straight out of a film set, with pretty pastel buildings and perfectly preened lawns. There’s a real sense of community, with the local dog bakery (yes, really) and an ice-cream parlour. But of course, a town isn’t complete without a local pub – which is where Celebration Town Tavern fits in. It offers up a huge range of beers, but its real speciality is its traditional New England food. Whether you’re looking for fresh seafood, steaks, pizza or a light bite to eat, you’ll feel welcome here.
What started with a painting of a yellow dog soon turned into one of Florida’s hippest places to eat out. The walls are covered in photos of cute pups from around the world and there’s a retro campervan for you to sit in in the garden. The menu caters for everyone from huge meat eaters to vegans, fussy eaters and the health-conscious. The signature dish is the pulled pork, which you’ll find in most of the dishes, so be sure to give it a try.
If you fancy something a little more niche, you should head to Winter Park. There’s Italian restaurants, vegetarian eateries, farm-to-plate diners – and Atlantic Beer and Oyster. It’s a tiny little place hidden down an alleyway decorated with fairy lights, and the menu is pretty simple – beer and oysters. There are loads of different craft beers to try, most of them local to Florida, or you can indulge in some Champagne or a Bloody Mary. The food includes oyster shooters, shrimp and crab, all locally sourced.
