The January sales just got better with Dubai's Shopping Festival. Also known as DSF, it’s been crowned the largest shopping and entertainment extravaganza in the Middle East, lighting up the whole city from 26th December 2016 to 28th January 2017. This festival is one not to be missed – because aside from unbeatable shopping deals, you’ll also have a knockout list of events, including live celebrity performances, catwalk shows, and live raffles, where cash and brand-new cars top the prize list. Want to know more? Here are the highlights of Dubai’s Shopping Festival.
When it comes to bargain hunting at DSF, you won’t have to go very far to find the best deals – there are a whopping 96 malls spread across the city. Not only that, almost every shop – big or small – has got something going on. On New Year’s Day, The Mall of the Emirates is just one of the places where you’ll find huge discounts off designer and high-street fashion brand names, including Chanel, DKNY, H&M and Zara. There’ll also be product launches and live entertainment here. And the best part? If you spend over £40.00, you’ll be entered into a raffle where you could win up to £10,000 to spend at the festival. Location-wise, you’ll find the Mall of the Emirates just 10 minutes’ drive from Jumeirah Beach. The Dubai Mall is another favourite place to shop for January deals amongst locals and visitors. This spectacular mall is home to more than 1,200 shops in its grounds, making it the largest shopping mall in the world. Inside, it features an aquarium, children’s theme parks, and an ice rink, so there’s something for everyone.
If you’re a fashionista, the glitzy catwalk shows are a must-see at DSF. During December and January, Dubai’s cityscape turns into a runway, with models parading the latest trends on ice rinks, inside the malls and even on the streets. The locations are impressive, too. If you opt for an outdoor show, you’ll get skyscraper views as you watch the models strut their stuff. And from bridal to casual chic and futuristic fashion shows, there’s plenty to choose from. Did we mention you won’t have to pay, either?
If contouring and highlighting is your thing, look no further than the Beauty District at DSF. The pop-up experience will be back for a second year running due to last year’s popularity. Here, big-name brands let you try out the latest products for a fraction of the price. Think discounted Clarins facials, manicures at NStyle Nail, and makeup trials at INGLOT’s pop-up shop. There’s also a live master class featuring Kim Kardashian on 13th January at the Palm Jumeirah. Here, the self-proclaimed contouring Queen and her makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, will be sharing their best-kept beauty secrets, as well as the do’s and don’ts of becoming a successful makeup artist. You’ll also get to meet local, regional and international social media influencers for makeup tips and hacks. Bethany Mota – famous for her YouTube makeup tutorials – was just one of the special guests last year, so it’s a beauty lover’s paradise. You can get involved with all the action from 6th January to 14th January at the Dubai Mall.
Dubai’s Shopping Festival wouldn’t be complete without its amazing fireworks displays. And this year will be no exception – you can watch the sky light up every weekend for a month. Displays kick off on the first day of the festival, and the best places to see them are at The Beach, Creek Park and Global Village. In terms of celebrity performances, last year played host to Cheerleader singer, Omi. As part of the festivities, the Jamaican singer gave 21 winners the chance to meet-and-greet with him. No biggie.
