If you can’t indulge in a little bit of luxury on holiday, when can you? And if you’re going to spoil yourself… well, you might as well do it properly. Enter Sensatori Resort Tenerife. This luxe hotel is so good that 5 TUI stars just weren’t deemed enough for it – it’s gone one better and bagged an incredible 5T+ rating instead. As you’d expect, this place has all the important things nailed – the pool is massive, the restaurants are top-class, and the rooms are so plush you may never want to come home. But it’s the extra, little things that really make the hotel stand out from the crowd. From the designer sofas in reception to the chocolate fountain in the buffet restaurant, here are 7 things we love about it…
The word ‘lobby’ is a bit of an understatement here. Step through the hotel’s entrance, and you’re greeted by a football-pitch-sized atrium. The first things you’ll notice are the silver leaves cascading from the ceiling. And the glitz and glamour just continues from there. Think bold artwork, abstract statues, and cutting-edge furnishings from the likes of Italian heavyweight, Fendi.
More than 5 times the length of an Olympic swimming pool, the hotel’s main pool is one of the biggest in Europe. It’s accessorised with in-water sunbeds, whirlpools and monsoon jets, and has an infinity edge, so you’ll feel like you’re floating in the ocean. When it’s time to dry off, nab one of the 4-poster cabanas that line the water’s edge and get to work on your tan.
You don’t have to trek to Vegas for a hotel fountain show worth watching. The main courtyard at Sensatori Resort Tenerife boasts some impressive water features, which are set among tall palms and luxe daybeds. Head here after dinner, grab a cocktail from the bar, and watch in admiration as the water dances and changes colour in time to the music.
The Guia de Isora area is a bit of a mecca for shopaholics. You’ll find everything from glassware to crystal goods and ceramics, as well as stylish boutiques selling designer brands. Don’t miss the Saturday farmers’ market in the main square either, where you’ll be tempted by local cheeses, fruit, honey and mouth-watering cakes.
There are buffets, and then there are Sensatori buffets. In the mornings, you can breakfast like a king thanks to table upon table of scrumptious hot and cold dishes. Come lunch and dinner-time, pile your plate high with everything from fresh-from-the-net seafood to hand-carved meats. Just make sure you save some room for the chocolate fountain…
From the minute you enter Nami, the hotel’s Asian à la carte, you’ll feel like you’ve left Tenerife behind and been transported to a dark and mysterious corner of the Orient. Sushi bars sit against a backdrop of lipstick-red walls, while an army of life-size terracotta warriors stand guard over charcoal-black teppanyaki tables. Oh, and it goes without saying the food is pretty incredible, too.
You know a hotel is pretty special when it comes with its own wine cellar. A word of warning though, some of the bottles here are true collectors’ items – and the heftiest price tag comes in at more than 3,000 euros. But you don’t have to have a bank balance the size of Kim Kardashian’s – there are plenty of affordable tipples, plus free tasting sessions every week.
Cocoa body wraps. Hot stone massages. Botanic baths. The list of health and beauty treatments at this place is so long, you could quite easily spend your whole holiday in the spa. For the ultimate A-list experience, ask for one of the outdoor parlours. They’re surrounded on all sides by water, and come with uninterrupted ocean views.
With its high-design interiors and impressive pool scene, is a luxury escape par excellence.
The original Sensatori property, TUI SENSATORI Atlantica Caldera Palace, boasts five-star facilities in a classic Greek style.
A beautiful white-sand beach, designer interiors and a gourmet dining scene are the calling cards at TUI SENSATORI Resort Punta Cana.
