Namibia Adventure: Etosha, Himba & the remote North

Individual Tour
14 DaysNamibia
Important Remarks

Please note: a proper 4x4 vehicle is required for this self-drive tour.
This journey takes you through some of Namibia’s most remote and rugged regions, where road conditions include gravel and corrugated roads, sandy and rocky passes, and off-road tracks. A standard SUV is not suitable for these areas and may lead to breakdowns, delays, or being unable to complete parts of the itinerary.

To explore these regions safely, a 4x4 with high ground clearance - such as a Toyota Fortuner or Toyota Hilux - is essential, especially in the northern areas where where mobile coverage and roadside assistance are limited.

If the 4x4 option does not appear automatically, please review the available vehicle categories and manually select a suitable 4x4 during the booking process.
.

Important Remarks

Important note on accommodation locations: Damaraland & Kaokoland
Please be aware that although distances in these regions may appear manageable on the map, road conditions can be challenging and often result in significantly longer travel times than expected.

Our sample itinerary includes overnight stays in carefully selected locations. If lodges in these areas are fully booked, the system may suggest alternative accommodations elsewhere in the region. However, these alternatives may not always be suitable, as they can add substantial travel time and disrupt the intended pacing of the journey.

We strongly recommend keeping the overnight stay as close as possible to the selected itinerary locations to ensure a comfortable and safe journey. This allows for a more relaxed, safe and enjoyable travel pace.

  • Carry extra water, as temperatures can be very high.
  • Always check with your lodge or locals if your planned route is accessible, especially during the rainy season.
  • This is a remote and culturally sensitive area.
  • Always ask permission before photographing people, especially Himba communities.

  • Roads can include ravel with corrugation, rocky tracks, riverbeds and occasional soft sand - all manageable with a proper 4x4.
