Our commitment to accessibility

We are working to improve our customer experience and to help people with disabilities independently meet their needs. We are enhancing our TUI tours websites so that customers with disabilities can also book all parts of their holiday online or contact us easily. We are working to ensure accessibility in accordance with the European standard (EN) 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

What are EN 301 549 and WCAG?

EN 301 549 and WCAG define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: level A, level AA, and level AAA. The guidelines cover a wide range of accessibility features including text size and colour, keyboard navigation and compatibility with screen readers.

How accessible is our website today?

Our website is not yet fully accessible for people with disabilities. However, we are continuously identifying and fixing issues and limitations on our website, and we have made significant progress over the past 18 months. We have trained and supported teams to deliver an accessible website and established a digital accessibility taskforce to review and improve our processes. We have also implemented a number of specific accessibility improvements, in particular:

  • Correcting keyboard navigation and focus order (WCAG 2.1.1, 2.4.3)

  • Correcting form labels and error handling (WCAG 1.3.1, 3.3.1, 3.3.2)

  • Replacing or improving date selection (WCAG 2.1.1, 4.1.2)

  • Adding ARIA-live areas for confirmation messages (WCAG 4.1.3)

  • Adding landmark roles and skip links (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.1)

When making our website accessible, we focus on the electronic commerce services (e‑commerce services) available on the website. E‑commerce services are telemedia services offered via websites and mobile applications, provided electronically and on an individual request from a consumer for the purpose of concluding a consumer contract. On TUI tours, the term e‑commerce service includes the areas where consumers can request contract offers and conclude contracts.

Adapting your experience to your needs

We want everyone to have a great experience on our website. However, you may find that you have a better experience if you adjust your computer settings to your individual needs. For example, you can change the website colours to make them easier to read, increase the text size to make it more visible, or have the website content read aloud so you can listen instead of reading. If you need help adjusting your settings, you can visit AbilityNet’s website or read the Web Accessibility Initiative’s tips on adapting your computer.

What are we doing to improve the accessibility of our website?

We are continuously identifying and fixing shortcomings and limitations on our website. We aim to make significant progress in improving the accessibility of our website within the next 12 months. This is what we are currently working on:

  • Continuing to train and support teams to make our website more accessible

  • Completing the review of our processes by our digital accessibility taskforce and implementing necessary improvements

  • Collecting user feedback through our website tools, analysing and categorising this feedback to improve accessibility, and forwarding it to our accessibility taskforce for review and to inform design decisions

  • Ongoing optimisation of our website components to make them more accessible

  • Improving text size and colour contrast on our website

  • Improving keyboard operability and screen reader compatibility
