The Swedish capital breathes history in the narrow streets of Gamla Stan, the medieval old town with its ochre-coloured facades and the imposing Royal Palace. At the same time, Stockholm is a bustling modern metropolis where design, fashion and innovation take centre stage. You'll find world-famous museums like the Vasa Museum and the ABBA Museum, trendy neighbourhoods like Södermalm full of vintage shops and hip cafés, and green oases like Djurgården. The city combines Scandinavian style with a relaxed atmosphere, where you can enjoy a fika (coffee break) just as easily as admiring royal splendour. Train from Stockholm to Gothenburg
- The direct train from Stockholm to Gothenburg takes approximately 3.5 hours. The trains are modern, with optional upgrades and onboard dinning, and are a fast and convenient way to travel between the two cities.
- We recommend train travel as your mode of transport between Stockholm and Gothenburg but you need to purchase tickets independently. SJ (Statens Järnvägar), the Swedish State Railway company operates the country's extensive passenger rail service and we recommend you book your train tickets via the SJ website.
