South Africa Complete: from Johannesburg to Capetown

A farming town with its name taken from the haze drifting up from the surrounding fruit plantations, Hazyview is the gateway to famous Kruger National Park. The town also offers some adventure activities such as horse riding, rafting or hiking, but its main draw is its proximity to Kruger, serving as a base for visitors and with excellent facilities and accommodation options.

Malalane is 10 minutes away from Malalane Gate entering Kruger National Park. Malalane means “the place of small lala palms". King Mswati’s Emlalani regiment was named after where the town now stands.

Lobamba, the capital of Eswatini, is a city with a huge historical and cultural importance to the country. Known for the traditional ceremonies of the Incwala and Umhlanga which involve elaborate dance and draw the nation to watch, Lobamba is also home to the country’s monarchy and parliament.

The town of St Lucia is on the southern tip of iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Many visitors use St Lucia as their hub because of its close proximity to many attractions in the area.

From the mountains to the beach! Uhmlanga, one of South Africa's oldest seaside resorts, is located 20 km from the metropolis of Durban. It is a relaxed seaside resort with plenty of stores,restaurants and bars.

Weaved throughout a scenic network of canals and waterways in the St. Francis Peninsula and characterised by Cape-Dutch style whitewashed thatched-roof houses, St. Francis is popular with locals during summer, but offers a calm and tranquil atmosphere during the off-season with its sun-soaked climate. Attractions include the historic Seal Point Lighthouse, as well as small beaches popular for surfing and year-round opportunities for dolphin watching.

A popular stop on South Africa’s scenic Garden Route, Knysna is a picturesque town nestled between mountains and bays, surrounded by a stunning blue lagoon and indigenous green forests which extend into the Tsitsikamma National Park. Knysna is also home to a thriving arts scene, and hosts various festivals throughout the year. Perhaps the town’s most popular event is its 10 day Oyster festival held each summer, drawing in both local and international visitors to celebrate the local delicacy.

Known as the ‘ostrich capital of the world’, Oudtshoorn made its fortune during the late 19th century due to a boom in the popularity and value of the creature’s feathers, with the local ostrich farming industry still the town’s main draw to this day. Though famous for its feathered population, Oudtshoorn also makes a great base for exploring the Little Karoo and the nearby Garden Route.

South Africa’s wine capital is elegant and buzzing, popular with both locals and tourists as well as being home to a large student population due to its University. Take a tour of one of many surrounding wineries to sample the world-famed local drink before exploring the town’s oak-lined avenues, filled with some of the best Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture in the country. Enjoy sophisticated boutiques and high-quality restaurants as well as interesting art galleries and museums.

Overlooked by the spectacular Table Mountain, Cape Town is a modern and multicultural city home to a melting pot of cultures and breathtaking landscape. Although known for its natural wonders, Cape Town is a buzzing metropolis with vibrant nightlife, diverse cuisine and a huge creative scene - having been named a World Design Capital in 2014. Despite its long and troubled history, nowadays Cape Town offers a relaxed environment where visitors can enjoy this laid-back city and take advantage of its many attractions.
