Journey through the Norwegian Fjords

Averøya is an island on the mid-western coast of Norway, located in Møre og Romsdal county. The municipality Averøy is mainly formed by a relatively large main island, partly split up by a fjord, but there is also several small islands and islets in the north-west.

Many people describe Averøy as a "miniature of Norway" as all the landscape typical to Norway is represented here. The island is also famous for being one of the two municipalities connected by The Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsveien)

Kristiansund city has a very unique location in the middle of the water, consisting of four different islands that are linked together by bridges. Another distinctive characteristic of Kristiansund is its colorful houses, but the most well-known is its clipfish - split, salted and dried cod which is one of the most popular ingredients in the local cuisine. Furthermore, the award-winning Kraftkar cheese is made here. From a cultural aspect, the city holds numerous festivals each year, from the Opera Festival Weeks to the photo festival.

The village of Dombås is the gateway to some of central Norway's most majestic landscapes where you’ll find towering mountains, national parks and action-packed adventures right on your doorstep. Also a stop along the scenic Rauma Railway, visitors will enjoy the countless opportunities for skiing, hiking, cycling and rafting nearby, and the village itself offers a few good accommodation options and amenities that make it an excellent base for exploring.

The picturesque village of Geiranger enjoys a fairytale setting at the head of the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, one of Norway's most spectacular natural attractions. Geiranger itself is a small and charming destination filled with traditional wooden houses, home to the Norwegian Fjord Centre where you can learn about the country's breathtaking landscapes and rich culture. Nearby, the majestic Seven Sisters waterfall and the winding Trollstigen mountain road await.

A port city situated on Norway’s west coast, Ålesund is known for its unique Art Nouveau architecture, excellent local seafood and proximity to some of Norway’s best fjords and mountains. Make a base in the city centre, entirely rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style of the time after a devastating fire in 1904, and visit the lookout at Mount Aksla for panoramic views over the city as well as the surrounding nature. Make sure not to miss nearby Geirangerfjord, one of Norway’s most spectacular and popular sights.
