In Costa Rica, it is recommended to rent an SUV. During the rainy season (from May to November), it is better to rent a 4x4 / 4WD. Please keep this in mind when selecting your rental car.
National Parks
Rincón de la Vieja National Park is closed every Monday, and Manuel Antonio National Park is closed every Tuesday.
Please note that, at the time of publication, admission tickets for the following national parks must be purchased in advance through the official SINAC online reservation system: Poás Volcano, Carara, Rincón de la Vieja, Tenorio Volcano, Tortuguero (Canales and Cerro sectors), Barva Volcano, Chirripó, Irazú (Crater and Prusia sectors), Manuel Antonio, San Lucas Island, Tapantí-Macizo de la Muerte and Los Quetzales National Park.
