Boston and island hopping

Important information to book ferries
: the ferries are not included in your booking.
To book your ferry between Hyannis (Cape Cod) and Nantucket, book through the official website of the providers: The Steamship Authority or Hy-Line Cruises. Both Steamship and Hy-Line offer high-speed ferries for passengers only, while only Steamship offers traditional ferries on which you can take your (rental) car. However, it's recommended to leave your rental car in Hyannis, taking the ferry from Martha's Vineyard (Oak Bluffs) back to Hyannis (Cape Cod) to pick back up your rental car.
The ferry from Nantucket and Hyannis to Martha's Vineyard (Oak Bluffs) only runs from (Hy-Line). Travelling outside this season? Then you're best off going from Nantucket back to Hyannis, from there drive to Woods Hole which has year-round ferries to Martha's Vineyard (Oak Bluffs). If you're taking this route you might enjoy a night in Falmouth before heading back to Boston.
