Classical Greece: Athens, Olympia and Delphi

Religious buildings, arenas, stadiums and the famous hippodrome were built in this era, giving the city a golden age, and attracting Greeks from all corners of the peninsula. Every four years, Greeks would cease any hostility between each other to celebrate and honour the games and the gods.

A mecca for skiers, snow-sports enthusiasts and Greek celebrities, Arachova mixes dreamy mountainous atmospheres with state-of-the-art facilities. The town's bustling nightlife is vibrant and crisp. The gateway to the Meteora peaks, Kalambaka is a cosy traditional town located in the heart of Greece. A town steeped in history, Kalambaka’s origins date back to ancient Greece under the name Aeginio. It would later become an important religious centre where its first cathedrals and churches were built. During the Ottoman Empire, the town received its current name 'Kalambaka' meaning 'sturdy fortress' and became an important commercial hub.

Dominated by the eye-catching Acropolis, Athens invites visitors to walk in the footsteps of philosophers, playwrights, and emperors while embracing its vibrant contemporary culture. The Acropolis and its crowning jewel, the Parthenon, offer a glimpse into the glory of ancient Greece. This UNESCO World Heritage Site stands as a symbol of architectural and cultural brilliance, with nearby landmarks like the Ancient Agora and the Temple of Olympian Zeus completing the picture of Athens’ illustrious past.
