Basilica of Santa Pudenziana and subterrain guided tour in English

Visit one of the oldest churches in Rome with this guided tour! The Basilica of Santa Pudenziana was built by the will of Constantine on the ruins of the house of Senator Pudente, who hosted the Apostles Peter and Paul. The house became then a Domus Ecclesia, "Domestic Church".

The church gained its Baroque structure in the 16th century, when Cardinal Caetani built a vaulted roof and an elliptical dome above the presbytery. The Basilica is also known for preserving the oldest apsidal mosaic of Christianity, dating back to 410-417 AD.

You’ll also visit the remains of the 1st century house of Pudente where Peter and Paul lived.
