Melnik Castle

Visit the castle Melnik, located only 40 minutes by car from Prague. The Renaissance castle rises above the Elbe and Vltava rivers and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Today's castle is situated in the place where a Slavic settlement existed in the 9th century. In the early Middle Ages, the castle was rebuilt and intended for the widows of Czech princes and kings. A tour of the castle includes a wide collection of paintings and furniture of the Lobkowicz family, which still owns the castle.
