Neues Museum tickets and tours

Reopened in October 2009 after extensive restoration, the Neues Museum ("New Museum") is one of the undeniable highlights of the Museum Island in Berlin. It combines geographically and thematically related exhibits, such as the Papyrus Collection of the Egyptian Museum, as well as the collections of the Museum of Pre-History and Early History and parts of the antiquities collection. Those who buy tickets and guided tours of the Neues Museum can discover the history of the ancient world from the Near East to the Atlantic, and from North Africa to Scandinavia, over thousands of years. The museum building has a remarkable history: built between 1843 and 1855 according to plans by Friedrich August Stüler, it was seriously damaged during the WWII then restored from 2003 to 2009 by the offices of the British architect David Chipperfield. The rich collection of the museum includes numerous renowned archaeological treasures, such as the bust of Nefertiti, the Le Moustier Neanderthal skull and Heinrich Schliemann’s collection of antiquities from Troy.

Used the Berlin Welcome card numerous times during our stay in Berlin. The card was easy to use on all modes of transport and we had a discounted price on the entrance fee to the TV tower which was very welcome indeed.
