Enjoy a 3-day adventure into the heart of Morocco’s wild Chegaga Desert.
Day 1: Marrakech - Zagora
Begin your adventure at the crack of dawn as you navigate through the awe-inspiring High Atlas Mountains. Traverse past striking peaks and valleys until you reach the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the renowned backdrop for blockbuster films like "Gladiator", "Obelix", and "Babel". After a scenic lunch break, proceed on your journey through the rugged Anti-Atlas Mountains and the verdant palm groves of the Draa Valley. As dusk falls, nestle in for the night in a cosy hotel in Zagora, the threshold to the desert.
Day 2: Zagora - M’Hamid - Chegaga Dunes
Wake up well-rested and head to the mystical town of Tamgeroute, celebrated for its ancient library and pottery workshops. Then drive to M’Hamid, the last outpost before the boundlessness of the dunes. From here, the authentic desert voyage begins. Get on a camel and venture into the golden Chegaga dunes, watching the sky burst with hues as the sun sets over the Sahara. Spend an enchanted night under the stars in a traditional Berber haima (tent), a genuine nomadic experience complete with dinner, music, and tales by the fire.
Day 3: Chegaga - Taznakht - Marrakech
After breakfast, carry on with your adventure across the hypnotising dry lake of Iriqui and through the dramatic desert landscapes to the Berber town of Taznakht.
