Dunas de Maspalomas

This coastal desert oasis on the southern tip of the island boasts year-round sunshine and is one of Gran Canaria’s most distinctive landscapes. Golden rolling dunes that drop into the Atlantic Ocean and a palm-fringed lagoon have filmmakers flocking to capture the cinematic scenes in Dunas de Maspalomas. Best of all it’s right on the edge of Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. After exploring the city by cycle, segway or scooter, you can switch it up with a walk, or even a camel trek over the dunes. The lagoon is a peaceful spot to see the local birdlife, or for utter relaxation, take a dip in the ocean and look back at the peaks and troughs of the wind-swept dunes.
