Set off with a local guide in an air-conditioned seven-seater 4x4 for a semi-private tour through the Cretan countryside, combining local food and wine tastings with an off-road route and lunch.
Your first stops introduce you to two of Crete's best-known products. See an ancient olive tree, said to be between 3,000 and 5,000 years old, before continuing to Anoskeli's olive mill and winery. Taste organic extra virgin olive oil with warm bread, oregano, salt and lemon juice, followed by five local wines accompanied by Cretan snacks. Along the way, sommeliers and wine and olive oil producers will share their knowledge of the products and how they're made.
The journey then continues by 4x4 along an off-road route to Milia Mountain Retreat, a restored 17th-century mountain settlement with traditional stone houses. Here, you'll sit down for a lunch of Cretan cuisine, accompanied by local wine, beer or homemade soft drinks. On the return journey to Chania, you'll also have the chance to see Topolia Gorge.
