1920s Berlin nightlife guided walking tour

"Night, Tauentzien, Cocaine. That's Berlin," the Russian poet Andrei Bely once exclaimed. Arne Krasting's latest tour takes you to the West this time.

In the 1920s, it was the hub of nightlife; it was where the proverbial fast pace dominated; it was where Berliners sought momentary excitement. Here, famous personalities would take a dip in a café pool. Marlene Dietrich celebrated her most significant triumphs, Josephine Baker demonstrated to Berliners the essence of allure, and Erich Kästner discovered the backdrops for his novel *Emil*. This area also boasted cinemas, theatres, and dance halls. Many remnants of this glittery era are still visible today. The tour concludes with a special treat: a glass of bubbly in the former living room of the era’s most renowned silent film star, Asta Nielsen. Arne Krasting is a specialist on the 1920s.
