About an hour from the capital of Catalonia, there is the majestic mountain of Montserrat, a rock over 1236 meters high, visible for miles, with strange shapes and rounded peaks that jut into the sky. At 720 meters above sea level there is a Benedictine monastery which is almost 1000 years old. It is the symbol of Montserrat and an important site for pilgrimages.
