Ciutadella Park is one of the largest green spaces in Barcelona today, creating a unique oasis to escape from the activity of the city. This park is perfect for a day of relaxation, long walks, picnics or fun-filled activities.
The park, whose construction dates back to the end of the 19th century, is located on the land formerly occupied by a military citadel erected by order of Philip V. Today, the Ciutadella has more than 100 plant species such as lime trees, poplars, Canary Island palm trees and even centenary trees.
Within the park, you will find numerous sites and attractions for all ages including idyllic row boating on the lake. Thanks to the many statues in the park, many consider it to be a veritable open-air museum - don't miss the equestrian statue of General Prim by Frederic Marès or the Lady of Paraigua by Joan Roig Soler!
You can visit the zoo or take in the impressive 'Cascada' (waterfall with triumphal arch), inaugurated in 1881 opposite the lake. Don't miss out on the Museum of Natural Science, the Castle of the Three Dragons housing the Zoological Museum, and the Catalan Parliament with its Museum of Modern Art.
