The Rembrandt House Museum, or Rembrandthuis in Dutch, is the former house of the important Dutch Golden Age painter Rembrandt. The restored 17th-century house, now converted into an art museum, tells the story of Rembrandt as a person, artist, teacher, collector, businessman, and citizen of Amsterdam. The museum contains an assortment of the etchings and paintings Rembrandt created during his lifetime.
Located on the edge of Amsterdam’s former Jewish Quarter just behind the Red Light District, the Rembrandt House Museum is a top attraction in the city. The interior of the building was accurately reconstructed to look as it did when Rembrandt lived there.
