While New Market Square – Nieuwmarkt – might be one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Amsterdam, it’s definitely young at heart offering a collection of lively bars, cafés and restaurants. There’s always something going on at Nieuwmarkt and it’s a must-see on any trip to the city. It’s a 10-minute walk away from Central Station and Dam Square. In the middle of the square, you can see the De Waag building – originally a city gate and major entrance point of the city. Today, it’s a great spot to snap some photos and enjoy coffee. Art lovers can visit the Rembrandt House Museum and nearby is where you can find Amsterdam Chinatown – one of the oldest Chinese neighbourhoods in Europe.
