Lake Garda has an abundance of unique sights, scenic walks, history and culture. And there’s plenty for both the little and big kids too. From roller coasters to log flumes, jungle rides to water sports, a holiday to the lake can be as adrenaline-fuelled as you want it to be. Find your inner child at southern Lake Garda’s fun spots.
Ride the rollers
Part of the Merlin Entertainments Group, Gardaland is just as thrilling as its siblings – Alton Towers and Thorpe Park. Have everyone howling on over 30 rides including a replica of Alton Tower’s Oblivion. Test your nerves through the spine-tingling spins and flips of Blue Tornado and Raptor. And during the summer’s ‘Magic is Night’ events, you’ll be riding in the dark and squealing under the stars. For the little ones, join Peppa Pig on her pirate ship voyage in a themed world of imagination.
Make a splash
The whole family’s sorted at Canevaworld Aquapark with a choice of family, adventure and action rides, as well as suntraps to relax and unwind in. Sit back on the white sands of Playa de Coco and float along the lazy river. Or for the thrill-seekers, the classic Srukas Boom is terrifyingly exciting – the floor opens beneath you and you plummet down the near-vertical chute.
Lights, camera, action
Explore Italy’s take on Universal Studios at Movieland Park and feel part of the films with action-packed shows and rides. Walk into Hollywood and onto the sets of Zorro and Tomb Raider, complete with fireballs and explosions. Or join the new Expedition Pangea – drive your own jeep deep into the jungle, across bridges and enter the world of dinosaurs. And get the blood pumping and lungs screaming on the Diabolik Invertigo roller coaster.
The north of Lake Garda is known for water sports, with windsurfing and sailing schools in Malcesine, Torbole and Limone. In the south, prepare to get wet and try out the exhilarating banana boats and tubing at Camping Serenella between Garda and Bardolino. For something a little more relaxed, spend a few hours close to the beach and hire a pedalo as a family – some even have slides. Single or tandem parasailing is not only a great way of seeing the area from above, you can stay dry too.
New for Summer 2019, get closer to the excitement by staying at Gardaland Hotel Resort or The Gardaland Adventure Hotel – the latter comes with themed rooms while both have access to the Blue Lagoon, perfect for lazy days by the pool. From both hotels hop on the regular shuttle service to Gardaland theme park, or take the public bus to Canevaworld Aquapark and Movieland, just a few minutes away.
