Marktbreit’s right on the southernmost bend of the Main. It dishes up lots of architecture typical of German towns in the region, like half-timbered houses and photo-ready Baroque buildings. The best sights on this 90-minute walking tour include Seinsheim Castle, which looks like a triangle-shaped pink cake, built in layers that are topped with two tiny golden turrets. Then there’s the birthplace of Alois Alzheimer, the man who first identified Alzheimer’s disease. Elsewhere, you’ll see the sturdy brick walls of the town hall, and the St Ludwig Church, which looks almost two-dimensional from the front.
