Once a royal city, Forchheim’s over 1,200 years old, and crammed with historic landmarks. It’s well-known for its beer culture, too. In fact, the city’s got its own Hollywood-style Walk of Fame, except here it’s called the Walk of Beer and features local breweries on its stars. On this half-day outing, you’ll head for the Kellerwald – a zone of beer gardens serving Bavarian beers. And underneath the gardens is a labyrinth of 23 beer cellars. You’ll take a tour of some of them, then sample a few snifters. This jaunt also includes a walking tour past the city’s iconic landmarks. Like traditional half-timbered buildings painted in all shades of the rainbow, a town hall that’s decked out like a giant gingerbread house, and a city park built on a former castle moat.
