{"id":4449,"date":"2018-11-20T10:01:59","date_gmt":"2018-11-20T10:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tui.co.uk\/press\/?p=4449"},"modified":"2018-11-20T10:02:46","modified_gmt":"2018-11-20T10:02:46","slug":"4449-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tui.co.uk\/press\/4449-2\/","title":{"rendered":"MOVIES STILL FLYING HIGH FOR IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Research finds relaxing with a movie is still the most popular in-flight service<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>New, in-flight streaming service to be launched offering customers the ease of using their own electronic device to enjoy the latest entertainment content following research by TUI Airways<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The latest service offers the ability to plan your holiday whilst in the air by browsing and booking a wide range of excursions from the comfort of your seat before arriving at destination<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Available on new 737 MAX aircraft, launching this winter<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>20 November 2018:<\/strong> \u00a0Despite the growing popularity of the \u2018boxset binge\u2019, when it comes to settling in and switching off during a holiday flight the likes of a Game of Thrones marathon is being overlooked in favour of a good, old movie, research released today has revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The findings, by leading holiday company TUI, show that \u2018well-established\u2019 in-flight services are still favoured by passengers yet consumers are surrounded by more choice than ever when it comes to entertainment content.<\/p>\n<p>During short, mid and long-haul flights on average over *79% of holidaymakers feel it is more important a selection of films are available for their journey rather than boxsets which only 48% of participants cited as essential. Along with movie content, passengers also enjoy the long-established in-flight services such as gate-to-gate connectivity (62%), and flight progress updates (80%). In terms of what to watch, \u2018rom-coms\u2019 and \u2018old sit coms\u2019 were popular choices.<\/p>\n<p>This news comes as TUI Airways prepares to launch a new, on board streaming service for passengers called \u2018Navigate\u2019 which will provide customers with the ease of using their own electronic device to enjoy the latest entertainment content of their choice, as well as the opportunity to plan their holiday from the comfort of their seat.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time customers will be able to browse and book excursions so they are ready to start their holiday the moment they land in their destination. From ziplining in Croatia, to sea turtle spotting in Dalaman, essentially organising their holiday \u2018to-do list\u2019 whilst in the air, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the pool.<\/p>\n<p>The personalised IFE system trial will launch this winter across the first, new environmentally-efficient Boeing 737 MAX aircraft which are soon due to join the TUI Airways fleet.<\/p>\n<p>Customers travelling to short and mid-haul destinations such as Croatia or the Canary Islands will have a unique opportunity to stream the latest blockbuster movies and TV box sets, browse the on board caf\u00e9 and inflight brochure. As well as a specialist children\u2019s hub displaying the age-appropriate films, games and music all in one place.<\/p>\n<p>The free-to-use service, which uses an on board server, forms part of the continued modernisation strategy for TUI Airways enhancing the customer experience on board. The same technology has also been adopted by TUI sister company, Marella Cruises which uses the app to enable guests to plan their holiday with ease, including booking on board extras.<\/p>\n<p>Jill Nye, Director of Customer TUI Airways said, \u201cOur goal is to be the holiday airline of choice, and we believe the holiday starts as soon as you board the aircraft which is why it is important we listen to our customers and offer a service that they expect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe beauty of Navigate is our customers can use the familiarity of their own device to browse the latest on board content, but also start to plan their holiday from the air, before they even get to their hotel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis free streaming service, trialled exclusively on a number of the new 737 MAX aircraft, comes as part of the airline\u2019s continued investment in its on-board products and services, as well as the modernisation of its fleet, to bring the holiday experience to life on the aircraft helping customers unwind and plan their trips from 36,000 feet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
