{"id":3708,"date":"2017-10-20T10:12:06","date_gmt":"2017-10-20T10:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/press.tui.co.uk\/?p=3708"},"modified":"2018-05-30T15:12:33","modified_gmt":"2018-05-30T15:12:33","slug":"tui-uk-ireland-announces-appointment-richard-sofer-commercial-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tui.co.uk\/press\/tui-uk-ireland-announces-appointment-richard-sofer-commercial-director\/","title":{"rendered":"TUI UK AND IRELAND ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF RICHARD SOFER AS COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>20 October 2017 &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0TUI UK can confirm Richard Sofer has been appointed as the new Commercial Director of TUI UK &amp; Ireland and will take up his position on the TUI UK &amp; Ireland Board with effect from 1<sup>st<\/sup> December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>As Commercial Director Richard will have responsibility for TUI UK &amp; I\u2019s product offering, yield management and aviation planning.<\/p>\n<p>Sofer joined TUI UK in September 2016 as Managing Director of Thomson Cruises and has successfully led the Cruise team through the launch of Discovery 2 in May 2017 and the recent rebrand to Marella Cruises as Thomson changed to TUI.\u00a0 During his short time in the role Sofer has demonstrated a great focus on business performance with the continued growth of the Cruise business and outstanding senior leadership qualities.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining TUI, Sofer worked for GLH Hotels where he held senior financial and Chief Executive roles. His last role was Chief Executive of Thistle &amp; Every Hotels where he held responsibility for the development and launch of new hotel brands, as well as being accountable for the profits on existing hotels, and was a member of the Executive Board.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Longman, Managing Director of TUI UK and Ireland said: \u201cI am delighted to welcome Richard Sofer to the UK &amp; Ireland board.
